Flight of Crows

The Idea for this work came to me when I saw swifts flying outside my window while practicing with a movie camera. It is in succession to other videos and still images in which I try to study the theme of time in various ways. At first I only had the resulting superposition in mind. Then it occurred to me to show the contrast between an ordinary view of an (almost) empty sky and the photographic trail left behind by the birds in a certain timeframe.
Being among the awarded artists is a great honor as it is the first time for me to receive this kind of recognition for a work. It also gives me confidence to further pursue the direction I took with this video.
The video was shot in the city of Braunschweig, Germany, where a large population of crows travels the same route everyday at about the same time.
To await their flyby, I positioned myself on the top level of a parking garage every evening for three consecutive days.
The high-end movie camera I used came courtesy of the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), where I graduated in 2013.
